Vibrant Tented Kansas City Wedding at Private Estate | Rachel + Jake
Rachel and Jake’s private estate wedding in Kansas City was a heartfelt celebration rooted in faith, legacy, and connection. From the very beginning, the day was designed to feel welcoming and deeply personal. It was truly a reflection of two people who care fiercely for their family, their community, and the story that brought them together. As their Kansas City wedding planner, it was an honor to translate that story into a design that felt both meaningful and a little bit funky in the best way.
Starting the Day With Intention
The day unfolded with a calm, grounded energy that set the tone for everything that followed. With crisp fall air and the quiet comfort of familiar spaces, the morning felt less like a production and more like coming home. Every detail was thoughtful, from the paper goods to the palette choices, reinforcing that this wedding wasn’t about trends — it was about intention.
Rachel wore a white lace halter gown with soft blush undertones that felt timeless and modern all at once. Jake opted for a sleek black suit, setting a classic foundation that allowed the rest of the design to shine. Bridesmaids wore off-white dresses with subtle green undertones, while the groomsmen mirrored Jake in black suits, creating a cohesive, elevated look without feeling overly formal.
First Look & Ceremony at St. Bridget Catholic Church
After getting ready, Rachel and Jake kicked off their wedding celebration with a sweet first look that brought tears to both of their eyes!
Faith played a central role in Rachel and Jake’s day, and their ceremony reflected that beautifully. A full Catholic mass at St. Bridget Catholic Church honored their shared beliefs and the values that anchor their relationship, complete with communion, Marian dedication, music, and a thoughtfully designed ceremony program.
The atmosphere inside the church felt reverent yet warm — a space where family history, spiritual commitment, and quiet emotion all came together. It was a meaningful beginning to a day centered on legacy and togetherness.
A Colorful Tented Wedding at the Bride’s Family Estate in KC
Following the ceremony, guests were welcomed to the bride’s childhood home for a truly special private estate wedding experience. Hosting the reception on the family property added an unmatched layer of sentiment, transforming a place filled with years of memories into the backdrop for a new chapter.
In preparation for the celebration, Rachel’s family enhanced the estate with thoughtful updates — including a new flagpole and a pond fountain — each improvement made as a labor of love. The result felt intentional and generous, as if guests were being invited not just to a reception, but into the heart of the family’s story.
Love Set in Stone: The Lime + Stone Design Story
The entire design concept was inspired by one word: limestone. Because Rachel’s family owns a limestone quarry, this material became the foundation for the visual narrative, split into two ideas — “lime” and “stone.”
“Lime” brought vibrancy and energy through punchy pinks, oranges, yellows, lime green accents, and pops of teal and aqua. “Stone” grounded the palette with warm browns, neutrals, and natural textures. Together, the balance felt playful, layered, and completely personal.
Actual limestone was used for table numbers, tying the design directly back to the family business. Stationery featured illustrated details — including a tractor — and even the heavy equipment on the property was wrapped in Christmas lights, adding a touch of whimsy that guests couldn’t stop talking about.
The reception space was anchored by two major design moments. A custom printed topographic dance floor, created from the elevation map of the family’s quarry, served as both a visual centerpiece and a deeply meaningful detail. Color-layered and bold, it told Rachel and Jake’s story in a way that felt artistic and unexpected.
At the center of it all sat a 360-degree teal bar, finished with a custom monogram and citrus-colored accents. It grounded the space while encouraging guests to mingle, linger, and connect.
Dinner was served family-style, reinforcing the couple’s focus on conversation and community. Long tables, layered textures, and thoughtful styling made the entire evening feel elevated yet comfortable — exactly the balance Rachel and Jake envisioned.
From start to finish, this Kansas City private estate wedding felt like a celebration of where Rachel and Jake came from and where they’re headed next. Every choice was rooted in meaning, every detail tied back to their story, and every guest was made to feel like part of something special.
If you’re dreaming of a wedding that’s deeply personal, story-driven, and thoughtfully designed from the inside out, I’d love to help you bring that vision to life. Planning a celebration that feels like you is what I care about most — let’s create something intentional together.
